We want to thank the people from First Romanian Baptist Church of Altanta that volunteered with the fundraising events, prayed or helped financially to make this camp happen. We want to thank First Baptist Church Clarksville, Tennessee & Agape Orphan Ministries for partnering with FRBCA to make this summer camp a success. Thank you to all the volunteers at Timon Association with their help on their end. May God bless your lives and may we continue to work together for God's kingdom until He returns.

Please join us in prayer every Tuesday for the kids that we worked with this summer and their supervisors.

Summer Camp Elim, Brasov 2011 comes to an end

We returned home safe last night from our two week mission trip to Romania. The summer camp was more challenging this year, but God did great things with a handful of people that have a heart for orphans. Our prayers though out the year were felt when the devil tried to strike one way or the other. We give God all the glory for everything that took place, and we know his Word has power and will continue to change the lives of these kids. As we wrap up this chapter for this year, we meditate on the great things that took place there, from the weather, to the friendships we made to the kids' earning to read God's word, more importantly one life that was transformed of one of the girls that came there. Claudia, may the Lord continue to work in your life as you made the decision to believe in Him and make Him your savior.

"A fost o onoare pentru mine să pot sluji alături de voi şi anul acesta în tabăra de misiune şi să putem duce evanghelia acestor copii deosebiţi care aveau nevoie să ştie că Dumnezeu e alături de ei şi îi iubeşte! Îi mulţumesc Domnului că şi în tabăra din vara aceasta am petrecut un timp minunat şi m-am bucurat enorm să văd cum lucrează Domnul la vieţile copiilor! Slavă Domnului pentru harul de care ne-a făcut parte şi pentru că ne-a pus în minte chiar mesajele şi lecţiile pe care copii aveau nevoie să audă! "Pot sa spun ca in aceasta tabara versetul din Proverbe 16:7 a devenit o realitate! la inceput majoritatea copiilor erau imporivitori si nu doreau sa participe la activitati, dar asa cum e scris si in versetul mentionat mai sus, Domnul a schimbat mult atitudinea si inima copiilor in timpul taberei, iar la final ne-a fost greu sa ne despartim!!! Un alt lucru minunat pe care Domnul mi-l aminteste atunci cand lucrez cu copiii, e faptul ca, noi trebuie sa avem rabdare si dragoste fata de ei desi sunt mai dificili, pentru ca si El ne tine pe noi sub aripa Lui in ciuda imperfectiunilor noastre!!! Abea astept sa-i slujim din nou pe copiii impreuna!!! - Nastasa Ioana-Macrina

"It's crazy how much of a difference you can make in someone's life in such little time. This was the first time that I can probably say we saw a noticeable change in people's lives in just the short time we were there. Hopefully it's long term and they continue to follow God but we have to keep praying for them. I'm real glad Chris and Robert came so they could experience what one of these trips can do and what a difference they can make in people's lives just by showing you truly care for them. Hopefully others will get more involved because I don't think people truly understand how much of an impact they can really have.

I think 1 Peter 4: 8-11 says it best, "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen." "Am trait o saptamana de revarsare a harului peste noi si peste copiii care au participat la tabara. Nu credeam sa vad asa de multi copii cercetati. O parte dintre ei citesc din Biblie si deja sunt prigoiti pentru credinta lor. Copiii din Centrul de Plasament rad de ei ca sunt pocaiti. Ne rugam sa nu dea inapoi ci sa creasca in credinta.

Vreau sa va multumesc pentru fiecare cent daruit pentru aceasta tabara. Pentru ca ati cumparat biscuiti, ati venit cu masinile la spalat, ati participat la mesele organizate de echipa ce a aparticipat la misiunea din Romania. "Nu stiu daca ceea ce am simtit in tabara se poate scrie intr-un paragraf sau doua...dar clar imi este ca fara ajutorul Domnului nu cred ca as fi fost dispusa sa ascult tot ce copii aveau pe suflet si pot spune ca am capatat rabdare prin asta si ce era mai important pentru mine era faptul ca prin asta sa pot sa ma deschid si eu pt ca am unele ranii care nu s-au vindecat inca in interiorul meu. "Un an de rugaciuni, sase luni de anunari a fondurilor a culminat intr-o saptamina concentrata de activitati, lectii, cintece si pretenii de-o viata. Un timp in care am avut o usa deschisa spre inimile acestor copii care au crescut in conditii asa de nefavorabile sa le spunem de Domnul Isus. Au fost copii cu multe vicii si vorbire murdara, adolescenti care cred ca si-au spus, ca pentru ei nu mai este vre-un ajutor, si se vedea pe ei, ca tot ce faceau era pentru atentie, atentia care nu le-a fost acordata la timpul potrivit. Am auzit povesti care si acum ne infioara si am vazut cum cuvintul Domnului are putere sa schimbe si cea mai rebelioasa personalitate, sa moaie cea mai tare inima si sa elibereze cea mai grea povara. Am vazut cum doua fete au primit pe Domnul si ne vom ruga in contiunare pentru credinta lor frageda, ca Domnul sa le tina tari acolo in conditiile grele in care ele cresc.

Multumesc Domnului pentru oportunitatea care am avut-o si anul acesta sa lucrez cu copiii orfani, o sansa sa ma apropii de ei, sa le dau o imbratisare calda si sa le spun ca au un prieten pe viata, daca ii dau lui Isus o sansa. Domnul a impletit asa de frumos relatiile echipei noastre cu a celor din Romania, si ma rog ca in anii viitori sa mai putem lucra impreuna spre largirea imparatiei Lui." - Ramona Stalinescu

"O saptamana binecuvantata a fost rezultatul rugaciuniilor. Domnul a lucrat intr-un mod minunat la inimile copiilor si la inimile noastre. M-am bucurat sa pot marturisi despre Cel mai bun prieten dintre cei mai buni, despre Domnul Isus. Un prieten care ramane cu tine indiferent de situatie. Pe parcursul taberei am vazut schimbare la copii: in comportament, in vorbire si in traire. Unii dintre ei au luat decizii noi pentru viata lor. Stim ca nu le va fii usor, dar ne rugam ca Domnul Isus sa le fie ajutor si sa le dea biruinta. Am aflat de la copii trecutul lor; un trecut trist, plin de durere. "Misiunea din anul acesta a fost mai mult o misiune personala in viata mea din partea copiilor pe care i-am intilnit. Nu cred ca exista o satisfactie mai mare de cit sa vezi cum Domnul iti raspunde la rugaciunea care ai inaltat-o sper cer, si exact asta am experimentat din partea Domnului. Ce e cu neputinta la noi, la Domnul este cu putinta. Intalnirea noastra, cuvintele rostite, cantarile cantate nu au fi avut rost si sens daca Duhul Sfant nu ar fi fost centru in ele. Seara cand ma rugam Domnului, ii spuneam.. Doamne, doresc o persoana sa te experimenteze saptamana aceasta.. cand a ajuns vineri seara am vazut, si experimentat exact ce scrie in cuvantul lui.. ca mai mult decit putem noi cere, sau spune.. el poate. Am vazut copii schimbati de dragostea si prietenia Domnului. Ma rog ca aceasta saptamana sa nu fie uitata niciodata. Am vazut mana Domnului la lucru, si in continuare rugaciunea mea ramana la fel! "There is no comparison between the unsatisfying and temporary joy that is felt in the world, and the glorious and inexpressible joy that is felt when one is privileged to be a servant for the glory of the Lord. This summer, I never felt such a more satisfying joy when I saw the kids singing their hearts out, singing that they are not an accident that God created them, that Jesus is their friend and that they are loved. I never felt such a more glorious joy when I heard the kids recite verses and saw them studying from the Word. I learned this summer that there is absolutely nothing more important than ones relationship with Jesus, there is nothing more important than for one to know that Jesus is their redeemer and deliverer. I learned that every ounce of energy is worth giving for one to know Jesus. I was given the opportunity by God to talk to a girl from camp named Ionela. She asked, out of the blue, if both my parents are still alive, I told her that they were. She told me her story about her mother and father and her siblings. I asked her where her brothers and sisters were; she told me that her three brothers and two sisters were with the family. She was the only one abandoned. My heart sank and I was speechless. I shared with her that there is someone that sticks closer than a brother, that no matter what, that person is not mad at her, but madly in love with her.

I am very happy that we had the chance to share to her, and all of the others, about Jesus love. The truth hit me that each one of these kids have a story. I could go on for pages and pages, but the most amazing thing is that the kids now know that Jesus loves them and that He is not dead, that he is surely alive, and that He is working. We saw God at work in amazing ways this summer. The kids got to experience answered prayers, they got to experience the love of Jesus for each and every one of them, and they got to learn about Christ and all that He has done and is doing. My heart breaks after these kids, there has not been one day that I have not thought about these kids and even shed a tear, I love each and every one of them. I am so grateful that God used us to be His servants. This was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I thank and praise God for it. Seeing the change in these kids lives makes 1st Peter 1:8 a reality in my life. Let us continue to pray for these kids that what was planted in them will grow, by the power of the Spirit. Last but not least the missions team was honestly the best group that I have worked with for the advancing of the kingdom of Christ. This was the first time I met them, and yet I feel that I have known them for years. I love each and every one of them and I long to continue working with them." - Chris Cioloca

"I could easily say things went smoothly this summer because of my "expertise" with children or Ramona's artistic abilities or Ovi's musical gifts, but the truth is, it was all Jesus. If it wasn't for Jesus, there would be no Good News to spread. If it wasn't for Jesus, there would be no compassion and love in our hearts for these children. If it wasn't for Jesus, this year's mission trip could have been chaos. We saw this summer how easily Satan can disturb the unity in between brothers but we saw how Christ re-establishes that unity for His glory. I think it's so amazing how we go to Romania to teach others about Christ, and in the end, the kids weren't the only ones who learned something. I thank the Lord for the amazing mission team we had this year and how each person was so eager to serve and I can't wait to do it again. "Nu stiam exact la ce sa ma astept dar ma rugasem ca Domnul in felul Lui sa ma foloseasca si sa ma pot apropria de acesti copii. Din prima zi atmosfera fizica si spirituala a inceput sa se incalzeasca. Fiind de la orfelinatul de stat, multi dintre acesti copii nu au avut contact direct sau o relatie autentica cu Dumnezeu. Majoritatea dintre ei nu aveau nici macar o Biblie, lucru care la noi pare straniu, deoarece noi avem o biblioteca plina, dar din pacate peste multe s-a asternut praful.. Sincer, ca in orice misiune, au existat cateodata conflicte si situati dificile inclusiv intre noi liderii care eram pretins sa oferim un exemplu constructiv, dar prin harul Domnului le-am depasit si nu ne-am abatut de la misiunea pe care o avea El cu noi. Rupandu-ma de mine insumi am inceput sa cunosc si sa ma apropii de cativa copii si tinerii care au inteles dragostea Lui Dumnezeu in asa fel incat in ultimile zile ale taberei se rugau cu lacrimi in ochii si cu o dorinta sincera de a gusta si ei harul acesta. Prin harul Sau, samanta a fost semanata in fiecare dintre acesti copii dragi. Multi care erau la inceput erau rezervati si reci au inceput sa se deschida prin cantare, memorarea versetelor si inclusive, prin jocurile jucate. Aici, au fost formate prietenii sanatoase si statornice si o armonie intre toti pe care doar Duhul Sfant o poate da. Am avut parte de o partasie frumoasa, de oportunitatea sa ii incurajam si sprijinim in a duce o viata curata, de a darui multe imbratisari tandre, si inclusive de a pansa cativa care au fost un pic prea “zburdalnici”. In una dintre zile am poposit la o drumetie in Domnul ne-a dat puterea si energia (numai El stie ca aveam MARE nevoie de ea) sa ajungem pana la culmea muntelui, de unde se putea vedea toata maratia creatiei Lui; a fost de neuitat. Jocurile, zambetele, si amicitiile in care am impartasit tristetile si bucuriile vietii, si de asemenea pe Cel care este in control peste toate acestea, vor ramane in sufletul meu ca o experienta a cu totul binecuvantata. Va mulumim din tot sufletul pentru rugaciunile si tot suportul dumneavoastra pentru misiunea aceasta. Dumnezeu sa ne ajute ca in continuare sa fim intodeauna la dispozitia Lui, pentru ca, cu adevarat prin aceeasta experimentam cea mai frumoasa binecuvantare, de a pune darul nostru la picioarele Domnului ca El sa Il foloseasca in lucrare asa cum numa El stie mai bine." Thirteen Commandments for Going on a Overseas Mission Work Trip

I. Thou shalt go with a positive attitude. Try to avoid complaints and anything else that could lead to arguments or dissension within the group.

  II. Thou shalt realize that this is a mission work trip in which you seek to serve God by working to serve others to the best of your ability. We do not want to see able-bodied group members who are doing nothing—or as little as possible. Of course, everyone gets tired, and sometimes a brief illness may keep you from working. That's understandable, but always try to do your best. This is a work trip—not a luxury cruise.

  III. Thou shalt stay together and not go wandering off on your own without the knowledge of one of one of the group leaders.   

IV. Thou shalt not delay group activities by being late when we are going someplace. It is not fair to make everyone else have to wait for you.  

V. Thou shalt not leave valuables unattended or get into other situations that could invite theft. Fanny packs are safer than purses.   

VI. Thou shalt act as though cleanliness is next to Godliness when it comes to possible health hazards from contamination. When brushing your teeth; use bottled water as much as you can. Carry waterless instant hand sanitizer (Purell or other brand) with you. Dirty hands touching your mouth can invite illness.  

VII. Thou shalt always remember to practice basic health and first aid principles. Use mosquito repellant with at least 30% DEET content to protect against both nuisance mosquitoes and those that carry dengue fever (somewhat similar to malaria). Sunscreen should be used if there is any chance of getting sunburned.  

VIII. Thou shalt always practice safety in and regarding vehicles.

  IX. Be especially careful when walking at night. Bring a couple of flashlights; there's a disposable kind that's about the size of your palm.  

X. Thou shalt respect the privacy of our group members. In some instances, men and women may be staying in closer proximity to each other than you are used to doing in the U.S., and sometimes it may be necessary to use common bathroom facilities. Be careful not to accidentally cause embarrassment to yourself or someone else.  

XI. Thou shalt remember that you are a guest in someone else's church, town, and country. Don't think that being an American from a more materially blessed culture makes you in any way better or smarter than your hosts. You should try to respect their customs and seek to learn from them as they do from you and your group. Realize that some words and forms of non-verbal communication that may be friendly in American culture can have opposite meanings in other ones. Remember that as an American, you are very conspicuous in places like your overseas host churches and the neighborhoods around them.

XII. Thou shalt not forget that your purpose is to glorify God through all of your actions. Prayer, prayer, and prayer are the three most essential elements for your success.

  XIII. Thou shalt expect to have a wonderful, memorable, and life-changing experience that you will always appreciate. Doing whatever you can in advance to learn about the country where you are going and picking up a few basic words and phrases (of a complimentary nature) of their language will make your trip even more meaningful and productive. Feel free to contact the trip leaders or people who have been on previous trips if you have any questions.

Influencing like Jesus Study

We're starting a new study called: "Influencing like Jesus" this week.

We're all an influencer, weather at home, at work, at school, etc. and we're called to make a difference! In this study we'll be drawing timeless lessons from the world's greatest influencer - Jesus Christ. We'll learn about 5 key traits of a godly influencer: Be Authentic, Be Compassionate, Be Honest, Be Excellent, and Be Gentle and discuss 15 principles. The first three principles we'll begin with are:

Principle 2. Be a person others will follow
Principle 3. Know your audience

BASIC. THE HOLY SPIRIT. Study

This Wednesday we watched and discussed BASIC. The Holy Spirit by Francis Chan, the third DVD from the BASIC series.
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth." John 14:16-17
We meditated on a few questions that Chan raises like: Have you witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit in a church you have attended? What was different about that church? Are we missing something when it comes to the Holy Spirit? Does the ministry of the Holy Spirit seems like a mystery to you? Do you want to discover what life is supposed to be like when the Holy Spirit is leading you?

While none of us claim to be experts at understanding the Holy Spirit, we sure want to experience Him, in our lives, church and wherever we go. We prayed for boldness, His guidance and His gifts (1 Corinthians 12). God gave each of us the gift of the Holy Spirit, which is our source of supernatural power.

Fundraising Lunch - A Success

We want to bring all glory and thanks to God for the success of the fundraising lunch. The total amount we raised is $3,193. We also want to thank our pastors, our church, the people that supported this mission by lunching with us, sora Mia and the ladies in he kitchen, the servers, all the volunteers that help set up, the girls that help with the sale of the t-shirts and art, the people that stayed and cleaned, the team members, Wayne and Kim for supporting this event with prayers. May the Lord truly bless each one of you.

BASIC. FEAR GOD | Bible Study this Thursday

This Thursday, May 5th @ 7pm we'll continue with the BASIC series, FEAR GOD. We'll watch the short video and try to answer some questions like: What does the Bible mean when it tells us to fear God? Is it a kind of respect or reverence as many in the church seem to see it today, or is it really more of a paralyzing fear that can drive you to your knees in trembling?

A clear understanding of what the Bible teaches can lead to a true fear of God, which can ultimately lead to the life we were intended to live and be true followers of Christ.

BASIC | Bible Study this Thursday

This Thursday at 7 pm in the Puggles' Room we are starting the BASIC series by Francis Chan. We will start with the second one FOLLOW JESUS.

Chan answers in a simple, radical way questions like "What does it really mean to be a Christian? To really follow Jesus? What is the church really supposed to look like and what should it be doing?" We'll watch the short video, discuss and meditate on the verses presented and answer questions about what it really means to follow Him, in our daily lives. There are 7 videos/studies in this series and we can keep going as far as we can before we take off to Romania. These videos are visually exquisite, intellectually stimulating and theologically solid.

We'll supplement the study with practical ways to 'be fisher of men' from the LYNTYS Study of T. Bush. This extra material is the connection to how to be a good friend/neighbor and show the love of Christ to others. Through the love for God and each other they will know that we are His disciples.

You can invite anyone that you think may be interested in the study to come. They are welcome.

Today we met for prayer and a group photo as one of our mission team members is heading to Romania for riding competitions next Tuesday. The deadline for the mission application is the first week of May as we need to purchase our airplane tickets. We decided to meet on Thursdays for Bible study. The time will be announced.

The car was event was a success today! But success is not entirely a matter of efforts, it's rather more about God’s grace and favor. We raised $1,684. We are in awe of God's greatness and speechless at the way He worked at people's hearts. He deserves all the glory for his faithfulness. The volunteers that came out to help were such a blessing, so were the people that came to have their cars washed. Even the weather was perfect. A big THANK YOU to the volunteers, from the sign holders, to the car washers, to the window cleaners, to the kids and parents, the FRBCA youth rocks for God! A big thank you to the owners of NexTire Good Year on L'ville Suwanee that were kind to let us use their premises and go ahead with the carwash at no cost. Thanks Patti for your encouraging verse this morning (1 Cor. 31:10) and great organizational skills!

The bake sales/hot dog sale went amazingly well considering the stormy forecast that was predicted for Saturday. God is great, he controlled the weather so beautifully. It started pouring right after we packed our tables. We had a good turnout of young people and we raised $402. A big thank you to Books for Less, Mia's European Market, all the enthusiastic young people that came to help with the sale of the hot dogs and cookies, all the great bakers and Danielle Williams who offered to sell the rest of our cookies. Camp Location and Dates

Today we confirmed the location of the camp. It will be at Casa Elim, in Brasov, Romania. The dates for the camp are July 23-30.

Casa Elim is a hostel located in a quiet area at the foot of Piatra Craiului Mountain. Bran Castle and the Medieval fortress of Rasnov are just kilometers away.

We started a study on how to strengthen our faith in God.
We challenge everyone to focus on developing 4 important spiritual disciplines for the next few months and they are:

1. Bible study.
2. Praying.
3. Fasting.
4. Sacrificial giving.

Without faith, it’s impossible to please God -Hebrews 11:6. So, our faith is the key to pleasing God. This is why we must strengthen our faith. But our faith is also the key to experiencing impossibilities, for all things are possible to him that believes. Ex.- the mission task ahead of us.

As we are preparing for this camp we need to keep in mind that anyone who has tried to make things work can testify that success is not entirely a matter of efforts. Its rather more about God’s grace and favor. We need the grace and favor of God in our life, else we’ll labor and toil in vain, and that’s not God’s plan for us. He grants rest, ease, comfort to those He loves!

Mission Meeting - March 2, 2011

We'll be meeting this Wednesday, at church, upstairs in the Puggles room to have fellowship and go over the fundraising schedule / ideas for the next couple of months to raise the money needed for the mission. Continue to pray and study the word.

Romania Mission 2011

During last year's short trip mission to Romania, we fell in love with the kids from Moldova, so much, that we've been praying for them ever since we got back and we were eager to go back this year and work with them again. This year's mission trip will consist of a summer camp with the orphan and abandoned kids from Vaslui and Negrei and Iasi. At the camp we will have a lot of outdoor activities, games, competitions, music, Bible Study, verse memoriztion, day trips and a Talent Show. We will have free time to share testimonies and make friends with these amazing kids that have been abandoned by their own parents and are anxious about their future. Some of the kids we'll be working with are hearing impaired and some have minor disabilities.

• Summer camp for 6 days in Brasov area | July 23-30
• The camp will be a collaboration between FRBCA, Timon organization and the church in Clarksville TN.
• There will be some funding from the Tennessee church (around $3,000). A few young people from Tennessee are going this year and Wayne will accompany them during the mission trip
• Camp duration – 6 days
• Existing mission budget is: $475
• FRBCA team members need to raise around $3,000, depending on how many additional kids we can bring this year. Total price for bringing the kids to the camp, the leaders, the transportation, the food for the one week at the camp will be around $6,000
• We've discussed doing an additional VBS in the Republic of Moldova, Hincesti and we're praying that we'll be able to raise additional funds to work with kids from that city
• Each person will need to cover their plane ticket
